Make good yaupon

This project began in December of 2022 with a shared goal: reunite our community around a table of local food and drink. We intentionally sourced produce and meats from local farmers to create nourishing meals. But local caffeine remained a challenge. We brought in specialty coffee from Hawaii and California, and tea from South Carolina, but it was the yaupon we sourced from Florida and Texas that really caught our guests’ attention. With yaupon's unique flavor & ability to energize us creatively and socially we knew we had stumbled upon something special.

While researching yaupon's history, we learned to dark roast the leaves and brew them strong. We brewed yaupon in the french press, the teapot, and even tried smoking it, but it was the yaupon espresso that really had a hold on us. After much experimenting,  our friends encouraged us to start selling these yaupon lattes and mochas at local farmer markets, where one of our first customers told us it tastes like, “coffee and tea had a baby!”

That summer of 2023, we released the cold brew version of our yaupon espresso. People were astounded to find a beverage that was both robust and refreshing to power them through the hot summer days. The word spread and after serving over ten thousand amazing customers, we’ve committed to Make Good Yaupon and make it accessible to everyone! Starting in Austin, December Dark Roast Yaupon Nitro Cold Brew is coming to your favorite local stores and businesses in convenient 12 oz cans. Now you can bring yaup-on the go to the lake, to the function, to the office and anywhere else life takes you. Sip Extraordinary!
